our duties and a vintage schwinn

we're heading to Salt Lake to deliver some artwork to a client.
i'm feeling so blessed that my husband can use his talents to earn money for our family.
so blessed that their are people out there who have the means & desire to buy artwork even in this economy.
so blessed that God has given him this talent.
and that i might be able to talk hubby into stopping by Anthro and Urban Outfitters while we're in SLC, hehe.

We've had church lock-up duty this week.  It's where hubs is in charge of making sure the church is locked up every night before we go to bed...

"Maybe I am not meant for these duties.
 Cooking duty.
Dead guy duty.
Maybe it's time for me to get a better duty!"

We actually have really thought having lock-up duty was the bees knees because we don't have a great place near our home for the kiddos to ride bikes so we've taken them down to the church parking lot to ride bikes for an hour or so each night.  It's been one of the highlights of their summer so far, which shows how lame our summer has been, haha.

the barbie bike is too small now so she inherited the awesome orange vintage schwinn

you go girl, ride that schwinny goodness for all it's worth

I guess I was inspired by the kids athleticism...or I was too lazy to drive to the gym...but I also got a couple of bike rides in this week...rode long enough and far enough to make not only my legs hurt but also some unspeakable places...
anyway, this is my "i'll cut you" look.  I was mad at the photographer for reasons unknown and this is what he gets in return.  nice.

672 worms later...

cousins came over and we baked some fun patriotic cherry pies from scratch.
by "from scratch" i mean, we literally climbed the cherry tree,
picked the cherries
(got all the worms out of the cherries...eww.)
and made the pie crust.
I don't know how much more "from scratch" you can get
unless you raised your own chickens and used their eggs.
(which some of my friends do...ok, now i feel like a cheater using store-bought eggs ;)
this entire process took about 4 hours, which is entirely way too long for baking a pie
but entirely not enough time to visit with my cute nieces!
my girls each made their own little baby pie, they loved rolling out the dough and cutting out the stars!
I think this picture says it all...

we didn't get a chance to do our hair, but we made pies and that was way more fun!
hope have a fun, memory-making kind of day :)

instafriday- birthday boy

yesterday was my husband's birthday and i had a really cute, funny, even tear-jerking post all lined up...
in my head.
and then we just spent the entire day with each other and i didn't get on the computer....
but, which is more important? right?
Jeremy's parents took us out to breakfast at a new restaurant in town called herm's
i guess it used to be an old diner way back in the day,
and they've recently gave it a renovation.
i'm very much in love with the architecture and the care that they took during the remodeling.
check it out

they spared no expense and the whole building is trimmed-out in copper.
I <3 copper...
the inside was amazing as well,
everything was done with a vintage modern feel.
the booth tables were just large slabs of white marble connected to industrial looking metal posts with wheels

the light fixtures were all amazing,
i love the style & i don't usually get to witness it 1st-hand in our little town

the bar was amazing

and the food was great
avacados for me!
yum!
can't beat a pancake the size of a pizza! :)

all drinks were served out of mason jars
bunch of hipsters
birthday boy opening his card
his card
kiss the monkey
it was a really fun time, though i'm sure the fam was sick of me taking pictures
i take that back, the kids never get sick of getting their picture taken ;)

my husband drooled over this bad boy ;)
(and i drooled over him, haha)
(but, seriously, he's HOT)
we went to dinner too, of course & celebrated with some yummy pizza and desserts

and a nice phenomenon, when waitresses see me trying to take pics of the fam they offer to take a photo of the whole family, how nice :)

and I'm blogging to you today from my husbands new macbook pro...happy birthday, borgie!

oh, that's just typical

weather in utah.
it's funny.
teeter-totterin' it up one day

and snow the next

we've had spring break this week
i had wanted to do something adventuresome
so we had an impromptu mountain climbing adventure while the weather was good
we just parked the car and started walking
and didn't stop walking until our view looked like this
if you look closely you can see a black spot where the road ends...that's our car
these girls are such troopers
they just followed right along with their momma's/aunt's crazy whim
and it was exhausting
i seriously had a hard time getting out of bed the next morning
(of course, that's nothing new...)
and here's my favorite shot of the day..
which was actually taken by Swede my 7 yr old.
this is Sofia
all ready to climb a mountain like a pro

it's funny how when we started hiking
the girls were complaining about walking through the field of weeds and brush
to get to the base of the mountain
but, by the time we got done climbing the mountain and back,
the weedy, brushy field was like heaven compared to the steep mountain
sometimes, all we need in our lives is a little perspective
PS: so happy instagram is now on android!!
you can find me there now (sugarblossomboutique)
let me know, & i'll follow you back :)

bow chicka wow wow

broke my glasses playing naughty librarian, haha,jk
but i am getting new glasses
whattaya think?

yes, i made my hubby go glasses shopping. on valentines day. i'm nice like that.

and jeremy knows the way to my heart is through shopping and food
so he took me to lunch with sofia

she's head over heels for her daddy

I know the way to jeremy's heart is to go climbing, so we stopped and took a little climb after lunch.
sofia's first time at the climbing gym

I tell ya, nothing's hotter than a guy that cares about his family!!
so, we went out to lunch...and out to dinner...and out for dessert, too. (spoiled)
and dinner was at cafe rio (mmm, sweet pork salad, my fave!)
and dessert at another restaurant where they have ginormous hot cookies with ice cream and chocolate and caramel syrup on top.
He's so good to me.
