i heart monogamy

First of all, denim vest, really? yuck.
Second of all, why did he have to sing so pretty and falsetto...'cause i really hate the lyrics.

I mean, really...who wants to hear words like
"you're a pretty little flower
but I'm a busy little bee...."
& "monogamy is not a part of me"

Personally, I think monogamy is hot.
Nothing is better than knowing that someone loves you, and your children, with all their heart.
That that person will always be there for you.
To hold you, wrap their arms around you.
Someone to joke with, grow old with.
It's really, truly amazing when you find it.
There's nothing hotter than a husband who is a good father to your children.
Nothing hotter than a husband who comes home after a long day & spends time with the family.
There's nothing hotter than a husband who teaches your kids how to ride their bikes.
There's nothing hotter than a husband who puts his wifey on a pedestal and treats his girl like she's the apple of his eye.
I am so blessed to have a husband so committed and loving.

So, contrast the lyrics of that new All-American Rejects song (beekeeper's daughter)
to the lyrics of Brandon Flowers song "Hard Enough"
it's a sweet song he wrote about his wife and how hard it is on them when he has to go on tour.
how grateful he is that he has her.
that his life is complete only with her in his arms.
that he is sorry for the mistakes he made that caused her pain.
Now, these, my friends, are good lyrics
Reminds me of my husband, if he were poetic, I'm sure these are the thoughts he'd express to me :) listen to it, it's beautiful!!

You let me into your life on a whim
and there was magic and fire in the night
In loving I was just a little boy
I made mistakes that caused you so much pain
All I know is that I'm older now

Some people think that it's best to refrain
From the conventions of old fashioned love
Their hearts are filled with holes and emptiness
They tell themselves that they're too young to settle down
Girl, I promise you, I'm older now

Can't stand the thought of another
Talking to you sweet, my dear
Where would I be tonight
If you hadn't held me here, in your arms?

That concludes my essay on why monogamy is hot.
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Also, you can link up your favorite song below.

pictures are worth a thousand words

we headed up to our local ski resort last week
& on the way we got pulled over.
I think the pics say more than words
(though I did add words, just for fun;)

and then, there's Jeremy...
he was 16 the last time he got pulled over,
he doesn't look too happy:
But, the craziest thing happened...
the cop didn't give us a ticket, just a warning...
(choirs of angels came down singing hallelujah, it was crazy>!!!)

Ya know how they say "it's all fun and games until somebody gets hurt"?
I want to add to that...it's all fun & games until somebody gets cold...

we accidentally packed Sofia's capri snow pants
(aka: the 2T's instead of the 4T's)
I think the face says it all
she got COLD real fast
and MAD real fast!
so, I took her to the lodge,
sat by the fire,
had some hot cocoa
and a rice crispy treat
and we took a nap!
and jeremy continued to try to herd cats
by the end of the day, the kids had caught on pretty well.
it was ingrid's first time and she was pretty awesome.
It was swede's 2nd yr. and she rocked it again as per her usual
if you need me i'll be in the lodge

ps: don't forget to enter the giveaway for this beautiful necklace!!

I wanted all you guys to have the chance to get to know Katherine a little bit so, she's the first to take part in my new 20 questions series!! yay!!
So, the 20 questions series goes like this... I ask someone cool 20 questions so that you can get to know them better. simple, right?
Here we go!
Here's Katherine, isn't she beautiful??
Hey, I am KatherineMW.  I like my church. i really like my husband.  I like to travel. I like laughing, and I think I am funny (because one of my sisters tells me I am). I like putting puzzles together with my children.  I like photographing glimpses of my life as the days go by. And I feel more like a cute mom with a pair of pretty earrings on.

*Do you have children?
I have 2 children.  Grace is 5 and Willis is 3.  Yes, my kids are Will and Grace!  They are both family names, but also very significant to their entry into the world.  There were complications with both my labors.  During the wee hours of the morning, after a long, restless night of “labor” with my daughter, my nurse was comforting me, telling me all would be well and that because we were in a hospital, my baby would be saved by the Grace of God.  After my nurse left the room, I turned to my Lance and said (of course while bawling), “We are naming her Grace.”  And it fits perfectly.  My son’s labor came with additional complications, resulting in moderate cerebral palsy.  My sweet son had no signs of life at birth, and needed to be fully resuscitated.  From the very beginning, my son has had a very strong will, so it stuck like glue.  I love my children, being a mother is complicated and tough and amazing, especially of a child with special needs, but I would not trade my life for anything.  I am blessed.

*what one word would you use to describe yourself?  Faithful.

*what's your favorite color?  Green.  Or maybe peach.  I have always loved the color green, and I like to wear the color peach.

*Which do you prefer hot chocolate or coffee?  Nestle hot chocolate.

*if you could have a super power what would it be?   Hmmm. I would love to magically change bodies – I would love to heal my son from him physical ailments!  I would also change my body and give me the right size curves where I want them.  And I would love to give and have wings, so we could all fly.

* what one word would you use to describe your business?  Feminine.

*which do you prefer the beach or the mountains?  I prefer the beach, but my fair skinned family should really be in the mountains.  One of our favorite vacation spots is Glacier National Park.

*favorite season?  Spring.  So refreshing and new.

*favorite pizza toppings?  My favorite pizza is italian style margarita pizza.  Settebello in SLC is my fave.

*night owl or early bird?  Both.  I stay up late working on Pretty Little Me or editing photos for my photography business, but then I get up at 5:45 every morning to walk/jog – that is my therapy.

*favorite TV show or movie?  I love Parenthood.  Oh man, so real.

*what is your guilty pleasure?  Sex in the City reruns on TBS or E, so the naughty parts are censored.

*what is your favorite phone app?  Instagram.

*what is your most embarrassing moment?  Eeek, too embarrassing to put on the www!!

*what's your favorite ice cream flavor?  Limited edition Amaretto Almond Crunch, by  Haagen-Dazs.  Seriously, heavenly flavor, and so silky.  Dang, I need to go buy some more.

*how did you meet your spouse?  Church.  Nothing fancy, but so happy we ended up together.  He’s so awesome, he is my rock.  I really like my husband.

*what's one food you can't live without?  I really love food (dangit!), I could do without mushrooms however, they are the yuckiest!

*what was the happiest day of your life?  when my house is clean and my kids are happy and my work is done . . .  no,  i don’t think I have had just one happiest day.  I have many happy moments I lock in and continue to create with my family.

*favorite sport?  I am not an athlete, at all, but I do like watching college football with my husband.  Oh and I do kick lance’s butt in Wii bowling.  I do enjoy yoga and jogging, if I get off my behind to do it!

*name one item on your bucket list . . . I have never written a bucket list for myself.  But a few things I am hopeful for are . . . to go on a mission with my husband someday, have my own craft room – that is all white and pretty, become a runner, have more children, take my family to Disneyland and create something that will magically wash and dry and fold all my laundry!

the one about the prostitute

The song This is Your Life by The Killers is about a stripper named Candy.
This song is about hope.  If you have been dealt a terrible lot in life, you don't have to resign yourself to that.  There's always hope for something better.  This is a beautiful song, have a listen.

For Valentine's Day Jeremy gave me The Killers Live From Royal Albert Hall cd and dvd. it's amazing!  Yes, he gave me my v-day present the first week in January because he couldn't wait...
Here is This is Your Life LIVE!

Candy talks to strangers
Thinks her life's in danger
No one gives a damn about her hair
It's lonely down on track street
She used to go by Jackie
The cops, they'll steal your dreams and they'll kill your prayers
Take a number where the blood just barely dried

Wait for something better
No one behind you
Watching your shadows
This feeling won't go

Crooked wheels keep tuning
Children, are you learning
Climatize but don't you lose the plot
A history of blisters
Your brothers and your sisters
Somewhere in the pages we forgot

Take a number Jackie
Where the blood just barely dried
You know I'm on your side

Wait for something better
No one behind you
Watching your shadows
You gotta be stronger than the story
Don't let it blind you
Rivers of shadow
This feeling wont go

And the sky is full of dreams
But you don't know how to fly
I don't have a simple answer
But I know that I could answer
Something better

This feeling won't go

Wait for it

she's a total disaster

I'm sure my kids have been watching entirely too much Arthur on pbs.
Ingrid ran up to me, all sorts of excited and said.
"What if I met Muffy in real life??!!"
she continued
"Muffy, she's a total disaster, but she's RICH!!"
ha, kids are funny.

so, we've been trying to find a new couch for our front room.  we are currently sitting on a couch that was donated to us when an elderly gentleman moved into a retirement home.  The couch is a 3-seater from the 70's and if you try to squish 5 people onto it (which we try a lot!) there's a bar under the cushions between the seats and it's extra super uncomfy!
so, we're trying to find a new couch with these characteristics.

1. comfortable and good looking (aka retro modern)
2. grey leather
3. narrow, like less than 35" deep.
4. in our price range
this is proving to be difficult.
This one in putty is my dream sofa, but it's $4000 :(
I love this one in pewter, but it's too expensive
I love this one in taupe, is our ideal price range, but it's a smidge on the brown side (waiting on the swatch)
I love this one, but I'd like to find one cheaper (got the swatch from West Elm and it's gorgeous!)

This is Sofia with her first bite of sweet pickle.  yeah, that was super disgusting, right, sof??

Hope your weekend is amazing! we are cleaning house, over here, and trying to get rid of our head colds. fun stuff.
